DAY TRIPS
Hilungtungan Marine Park
We
offer day trips to several islands in the area. Snorkelers and divers
alike will be mesmerized by Hilungtungan Island Marine Park, a very successful
marine park with hundreds of schools of fish. Especially snorkeleres will
be amazed by the beauty of the coral reef and the amount of fish, even
in very shallow water. Scuba divers will appreciate the vibrant display
of all kinds of reef fishes, since they are used to divers and come very
close. U/W photographers will have a field day. This day trip is especially
suited for snorkelers, scuba divers with limited experience and u/w photographers,
since the dives are not very deep but very colorful. The boat ride to
the island takes only about 30 minutes.
Cabilao Island
Cabilao is a league of its own. The fringing reef drops from a plateau
to a depth of 70 meters and more, often overhanging. Large schools of
pelagic fish pass by the reef, occasionally schools of hammerhead sharks
can be observed. Sometimes the current can be strong, thus the dive sites
around Cabilao are more experienced divers only.
Our day trips are conducted with modernized outrigger boats, called “banca”
(water spider), which allows the boat to come very close to shallow reefs
and drop-offs.
